Cheeseburger Dumplings

The perfect bite

I have wanted to make cheeseburger dumplings for so long. Some of you already know I have a fierce love for all thing's Asian food. Generally, when I make dumplings, they are always filled with veggies or pork, never beef. I saw someone make cheeseburger dumplings about two years ago on Instagram, and I was so intrigued. So, this was a welcome change from the usual. The ultimate east meets west. It literally tastes like a little mini cheeseburger.

Jamaica Food and Drink Festival 2017 : Chopstix

#JFDF

For one week every October, Jamaica Food and drink festival brings to its patrons a culinary journey of events with different themes. Pork Palooza is everything swine, down to the desserts. Chopstix, as the name suggests, is all foods Asian. Crisp is all about crispy fried everything paired with local and international beers. Vintage is a seven-course wine pairing feast. Picante is all about the hot, zesty flavors. Meet Street & The Market is one for the kids, food trucks, restaurants, and pop up kitchens, with family entertainment. The week ends with a Sunday Brunch at the Gallery.

Spicy Jackfruit fried Rice

M...eat...less

Hello my name is the Greedy Girl and I enjoy tricking my husband who does not eat fruits, into eating fruits. This is NOT one of those jackfruit dishes that will make you think you’re eating chicken. Reason being I used ripe jackfruit. For a sneakier way of incorporating the jackfruit you would use young jackfruit in brine, but it takes a while to cook and become tender. So I decided to skip that all together and just use the ripe ones which we can get easily in Jamaica once it’s in season. And let me tell you, it is the season.

Asian turkey stuffed squash

“Pumpkin Everythang”

No one told me that during gourd season there were so many different varieties in the grocery store. Usually I’m in Jamaica during this time and we have one pumpkin, green skinned yellow flesh nothing new. However I waltz into stop and shop expecting to pick up a normal slice and the only thing I recognized in the pile was some butternut squash. I mean they had dimples, bumps, weird curves, some were purple, and they truly looked like something out of this world. Even though most are bitter and inedible, all I kept thinking was how hard they must be to peel. I picked up my two squashed and headed home to stuff them.

Pumpkin Cabbage Dumplings

M..eat..less

Believe it or not, my lazy self was going to make a salad for this post. Yes a SALAD. Lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots some raisins and a home-made dressing. After careful consideration, I felt that I would be cheating you guys out of a recipe if I had indeed done this. So with no preparation at all I went into the kitchen with no idea what I would be making for this post. What I saw on the counter was a very large pumpkin my Grand Uncle had given to us. Hence this dumpling was born.
