Greedy Girl eats: Alex Curry Goat

"Greedy Girl Eats"

The Fifth Stop! This month on Greedy girl eats its all about curried goat. In Jamaica our motto is out of many one people and for good reason. After slavery ended droves of Indians came to the country as indentured laborers. Thy did not leave behind their food. The curry as we know it today is a fusion of traditional Indian curry with Jamaican flavors. I will be visiting 8 restaurants across the island and sampling their curry goat. The month ends with a home made version honing in the best of all I taste.

"When goat meat done, a wa curry a go do?" -Miss Lou

We curry any and everything, oxtail, chicken, fish, even curried vegetables and chick peas. Goat however is the most traditional thing to curry. Mutton has a distinct flavor and when curried with the added spices it can be the most delicious thing paired with some soft and fluffy white rice or better yet some well made roti.
The fifth dining experience takes place at Alex Curry Goat

Name: Alex Curry goat
Location: Spur Tree Hill Manchester

Passing through Spur Tree in Manchester there are at least three to four spots that sell curry goat. Alex Curry goat is a household name. Its extremely popular and most say it the best curry goat ever. I can say I have been getting mixed reviews on that claim. Some say its has too much bones, some say the portion is too small, and some have said its lost its over all greatness. I think I would have to disagree with them all. In all fairness this is the first time I've ever had their curry goat so I cant compare it to their glory days. But from what I tasted it was quite good, seasoned, well flavored and the bones and meat size were ok. Their major downfall was the lack of ram goat flavor

...see how they scored?

Seasoning: 8 Very good curry flavor
Ram goat taste: 6 not as strong as a ram goat flavor as I would have liked
Tenderness: 8 tender with a few chewy bits
Bones: 8 the bones were not chopped up fine and splintery while there were a fair amount of bones they were manageable
Overall taste: 8 Pretty good !!
Hiccups: -1 No roti : (
 Total score 37/50 or 74%

Greedy tips:

They also have an excellent manish water (goat soup)

Remember this review is JUST for the Curry Goat, not for their entire menu.

Xoxo
