Greedy Girl Eats at Alcohole Restaurant

"Greedy Girl Eats"

The sixth stop! This month on Greedy girl eats its all about curried goat. In Jamaica our motto is out of many one people and for good reason. After slavery ended droves of Indians came to the country as indentured laborers. Thy did not leave behind their food. The curry as we know it today is a fusion of traditional Indian curry with Jamaican flavors. I will be visiting 8 restaurants across the island and sampling their curry goat. The month ends with a home made version honing in the best of all I taste.

"When goat meat done, a wa curry a go do?" -Miss Lou

We curry any and everything, oxtail, chicken, fish, even curried vegetables and chick peas. Goat however is the most traditional thing to curry. Mutton has a distinct flavor and when curried with the added spices it can be the most delicious thing paired with some soft and fluffy white rice or better yet some well made roti.
The sixth dining experience takes place at Alcohole

Name: Alcohole Restaurant
Location: Hatfield Manchester

Before  you hit spur tree you pass through a community called Hatfield. Here in lies the next spot. A joint owned by a childhood friend with whom I attended prep school. We normally frequent his spot on a Friday night for drinks, conch nuggets, fry bammy, steam fish and escovitch fish. He decided that he was tired of driving to St Elizabeth for breakfast curry goat, so every Saturday morning his kitchen whips up some delicious breakfast curry goat for all those no in the mood to cook it or take the journey down the hill. Overall a very good plate of curry, you can taste the ram goat flavor but it just needs to be stronger for me.

...see how they scored?

Seasoning: 8.5 Very good curry flavor
Ram goat taste: 7 detectable ram goat flavor but not super strong
Tenderness: 8 tender with a few chewy bits
Bones: 8 good size meat and manageable size bones
Overall taste: 8.5 Real good !!
Hiccups: 0 Delicious roti
 Total score 40/50 or 80%

Greedy tips:

They also have an excellent conch nuggets and a plethora of other yummy seafood choices.

Remember this review is JUST for the Curry Goat, not for their entire menu.

Xoxo
