Greedy Girl Eats at Moby Dick

"Greedy Girl Eats"

The seventh stop! This month on Greedy girl eats its all about curried goat. In Jamaica our motto is out of many one people and for good reason. After slavery ended droves of Indians came to the country as indentured laborers. Thy did not leave behind their food. The curry as we know it today is a fusion of traditional Indian curry with Jamaican flavors. I will be visiting 8 restaurants across the island and sampling their curry goat. The month ends with a home made version honing in the best of all I taste.

"When goat meat done, a wa curry a go do?" -Miss Lou

We curry any and everything, oxtail, chicken, fish, even curried vegetables and chick peas. Goat however is the most traditional thing to curry. Mutton has a distinct flavor and when curried with the added spices it can be the most delicious thing paired with some soft and fluffy white rice or better yet some well made roti.
The seventh dining experience takes place at Moby Dick Restaurant

Name: Moby Dick Restaurant
Location: Orange street Downtown Kingston

I have been driving past this restaurant for years and years and years. This is the first time I have ever had the pleasure of dining at Moby Dick. The food was steaming HOT! quite delicious, very flavorful well seasoned. My mother had always mentioned that the 'heard' thier curry goat was good. However we had never tried it before. The food had a distinct taste as if it were cooked over coal fire. And every Jamaican knows how yummy food cooked over coal pot is! My only qualms was the lack of strong curry flavor. They just needed a bit more curry powder, or to use a stronger flavor curry powder.

...see how they scored?

Seasoning: 8.5 Very good over all flavor however the curry was not as strong as I like
Ram goat taste: 8.5 detectable ram goat flavor, very smokey as well
Tenderness: 8 tender with a few chewy bits
Bones: 8 good size meat and manageable size bones
Overall taste: 8.5 Real good !!
Hiccups: 0 Delicious roti
 Total score 41/50 or 83%

Remember this review is JUST for the Curry Goat, not for their entire menu.
