Home ground garlic butter beef burger

"Beefy"

Most of the time when we buy pre-ground beef for our burgers, we kind of loose out on the flavor we could achieve if we did it ourselves. Each cut of beef carries different characteristics and flavor profiles, just ask google. Don’t get me wrong, I am an avid ground beef purchaser. It’s very rare that I have the time to make my own custom blends of meat. I even experiment with different brands of pre-made burger patties. I have several burger recipes on the blog already using shrimp, goat, sausages, beef, salmon the works, so if your not interested in grinding your own meat, this is not the post for you. Every now and again when I want a really great beefy flavor for my burger, I do my own custom meat blend. So in today’s blog post I’m letting you guys in on my little secret.

Jerk sausage beef burgers with a roasted red pepper mayo

My Dinner

If you want a burger that incredibly juicy and flavorful you should probably mix some seasoned pork sausages into the beef. Specifically, jerk pork sausages. Smoked paprika, pepper jack cheese and jerk sausage are a match made in heaven when it comes to burger making.

Sweet potato Onion and chia seed buns

"Potato Patata"

I am really sorry to disappoint everyone who came here thinking they would find a burger recipe. Nope its potato month remember? So what you will find here, is a really awesome recipe for a sweet potato onion bun with chia seeds.  I finally decided to do a labor intensive potato recipe, and by labor intensive I mean a recipe using yeast and flour, my two culinary enemies.

Shrimp burger with cucumber pickle slaw

Burger Showdown!

Generally November is my favorite blog month. I really enjoy cooking all the Christmas recipes. However this burger month has come really close to being one of the best. I truly enjoyed experimenting and creating all the flavor combinations of all the burgers past. This shrimp patty however is my absolute favorite of the month. I feel like I say that about every last post. But I swear to you, you don’t need any bread, you don’t need any cucumber slaw all you need in life is a plate full of these shrimp patties.

Curry Goat burger

Burger Showdown!

Goat burger smothered in curried mushrooms, with melted mozzarella cheese and spinach on a butter toasted bun. This is my wildcard burger for the month. The burger I tried on a whim to see if it was even possible. It was so good, the curried mushrooms atop the goat burger really is the epitome of perfection.

Sweet and Spicy Chicken burger

 Burger Showdown!

Can you believe that summer is almost over? It’s the last week and a half to the beginning of school and everyone is in a mad dash to get ready. What I think we should be doing is getting in those last BBQ’s, while basking in the non-existent morning traffic. Why are we in such a rush to get back to the hectic school term? The first step in enjoying the last few weeks is to indulge in this delicious chicken burger. It’s sweet, and spicy, filled with delicious pineapple and crispy bacon.

BBQ Blue Beef burger

 Burger Showdown!

If there was ever a more perfect way to have a beef burger, this would be it. The beef is juicy with the delicious blue cheese sauce, caramelized onions, BBQ lays and spinach all working in perfect harmony between two perfectly toted buns. Smash burger’s ‘New Yorker’ burger was at the top of my favorite burgers in the world list but this one right here has taken the top rank for the best beef burger ever!

Pork Feta burger with Asian slaw

Burger Showdown!

And now for the protein my sister eats no longer. No way we could have a burger month and not include the other white meat. Juicy pork patty spiced with feta cheese, served with a crunchy Asian slaw and even more pork in the form of crispy bacon strips.

Garden burger

Burger Showdown!

The true test of a good vegetarian burger is to have a meat eater take a bite and not realize there’s no meat in it; this burger has met and passed that challenge. Not only does it fool the eye, it has so many layers of flavors that it also tricks the palette.

Salmon burger with sweet dill cream

Burger Showdown!

I always have to find a way to implement vegetarian and seafood dishes into my monthly blog postings. So a salmon burger is a natural addition to the list of burgers I will be doing this month. The yummy salmon burger for today is topped with grilled onions, broccoli sprouts and smothered in a simple creamy dill sauce.

The classic beef burger

Burger Showdown!

They say a classic never dies; and for good reason. This burger has protein, carbs, fat, veggies, sugars, the entire food pyramid layered into one perfect meal. Since I will be doing a whole month of all sorts of burgers, it’s only right to start with the godfather of them all, the burger everyone loves, and the burger everyone should know how to make.

Cheese burger omelette

The best way to eat an egg!

After patty month had ended I had some beef patty filling left over. We took this left-over meat and used in a few omlettes that were amazingly delicious. It was then the idea for a beef filled omelette came into my thoughts. Since I had no intention of remaking a whole pot of beef filling just for one omelette, I decided to incorporate the beef in a different way. Suddenly the cheese burger pops right in my head and I knew that would be the omlete flavor inspiration for this post.

Krabby Patties

Something Smells Fishy...

To venture into seafood month and not do a crab cake, a dish that is so high on the seafood hall of fame list would be a sacrilege.  This is my second encounter with homemade crab cakes, back in the day, meaning over 5 years ago when I first made, it I followed a food network recipe. I used American lump crab and the recipe included capers. Needless to say I hated it. So this time around I used my own simple ingredients, with the star ingredient being Jamaican crab.
