Smoked salmon spread

Brunch knows best

Can it be a brunch without a smoked salmon spread? No I think not.  There are some foods that just scream brunch; mimosas, chicken n waffles and smoked salmon spread or dip, call it what you want. This recipe is incredibly easy to make, and most of all delicious.

Call me the Dairy Queen

It’s Friday and FINALLY, the end of ice-cream month. This has been the longest month of my life and if I never see a box of heavy cream for the next 6 months I’ll be just fine. Today we have a super delicious creamy, perfect scoop of mint, cream and cookies. Its cookie and cream 2.0

Banana Rum Ice-cream

Call me the Dairy Queen

A banana ice-cream generally wouldn’t be high up on my list. Any time we have over ripe bananas we opt for delicious and moist banana bread. However this ice-cream has made me realize that we might have to start making an exception to that rule. I’m not a huge fan of bananas but I loved this ice-cream. If you love bananas this may be the ice-cream you need to try. Its rich and creamy bursting with banana flavor with hints of rum undertones.

Jackfruit Grapenut Ice-cream

Call me the Dairy Queen

This very large tropical fruit is now a delicious creamy ice-cream bursting with jackfruit flavor and filled with crunchy grape-nuts for added texture. Just opening the quart container, the smell of the jackfruit hits you as if you were eating the raw fruit. The fruit has been perfectly captured in this ice-cream.

Toasted Hazelnut Coffee and Nutella ice cream

Call me the Dairy Queen

Today’s dessert is nutty, creamy sweet and delicious. It’s almost impossible to go into an ice-cream shop and not see a coffee flavored ice-cream. So I decided that us home cooks should have one in our arsenal as well. And this recipe is even better than the ones in the parlor because its jam packed with toasted hazelnuts and Nutella. As if coffee ice-cream needed to get any more awesome than it already is!

Strawberry Cheesecake Ice-cream

Call me the Dairy Queen

This ice-cream will be the hit will all the cheesecake lovers out there. Unfortunately I am not one of them. I could never wrap my head around eating a large chunk of cheese and butter. I generally peel off the crust and eat that with a little strawberry topping. However as a cheesecake hater I will say this ice-cream is quite good.  The consensus from everyone who has tasted it is that it tastes exactly like cheesecake. I think it taste better.

Strawberry shortcake-ish

Cake Cake Cake...

My family members are always the catalyst for recipe ideas. That cookie and cream ice-cream cake for my cousin, the entire vegetarian month was for my mom, and now this strawberry shortcake for my beloved little sister. Her middle name is “strawberry short cheesecake” because if there is anything she loves more than strawberry shortcake it would be cheesecake. Cheesecake I detest, but strawberry shortcake on the other hand can be delicious.

Not your mothers Pineapple upside-down cupcake

Cake Cake Cake...

By now you all should know how much I love an upside down cupcake. I have tried blueberry and strawberry upside down cupcakes in the past. However the pineapple upside down is the most socially acceptable. Since I’m never one to follow rules and traditions I did the pineapple upside down my way.

Hungry Man Scramble

Breakfast is served!

I take my eggs very seriously; as a matter of fact I take breakfast very seriously. It’s surprising to me that I took this long to dedicate a month of blogging solely to breakfast foods.  This post is about the most filling delicious and healthy scrambled egg platter you will ever eat. It’s so good in fact that after a serving of this breakfast, you would have cast a very powerful spell on your significant other, enough so that thoughts of proposals will begin to swarm in the minds.

So be warned, if it is your intent to have a fling, no strings attached, non-committed, no marriage relationship, DO NOT COOK THE FOOD ON THIS BLOG AND SERVE IT TO SAID PERSON!  But if you’re trying to lock it down real quick…stick around.

“Creamozzagouda” sticks

Appetizing...

Who would have ever thought that homemade mozzarella sticks were even attemptable, (who knew attemptable was even a word :) I had no idea what to make for this post, I had planned doughnuts, however was in no mood to deal with yeast. So I began asking my friends and family what are their favorite appetizer items on a restaurant’s menu. I got wings, and shrimp both already on the blog, then someone said if mozzarella sticks are on a menu they have to order it, And I got very excited.

Pumpkin gnocchi with white wine cream cheese sauce

 "Pumpkin Everythang”

I’ve always wanted to make gnocchi. In my early days of cooking, when I was mostly a spectator (that is watching food network) I decided to try these little Italian dumplings, however I purchased the prepackaged ones in the pasta section and needless to say it was not good. It deterred me from ever trying or attempting to make gnocchi again. That was years ago, and I know better now. Its always better to make your own than to do store bought if you can. So one fateful jet blue flight from Kingston to JFK about two months ago, I was watching food network on my little mini screen. I saw a really quick video with Mario Batali and Mark Bittman making gnocchi and as usual the light bulb went off.
