Savory Bread Pudding

M...eat...less

Recipes have a funny way of transforming themselves. I had every intention of making some savory bread pudding waffles with a pepper jelly glaze ( which was really some store bought pepper jelly melted in the microwave…soooo good) I went to my mother’s house because I did not take the waffle sandwich maker when I moved. We turned that kitchen upside down and we have yet to find the waffle iron inserts. Needless to say, I was highly annoyed. Because bread pudding really need to cook thoroughly, I didn’t think the sandwich press inserts could do the job as well as the waffle inserts. However because I had no other choice but to make it work, I tried cooking this recipe three ways.

Apple stuffing biscuits

"Christmas is coming"

I’m back at it again with anther biscuit. This recipe has been in my head for a while. My real intention was to add some corn flour or actual cornbread and sausages and make it like an apple sausage cornbread stuffing biscuit. But I decided that I would play it safe and eliminate the sausages and cornbread. Not to mention that I am living with a vegetarian now who is the biggest foodie ever and I did not want to prevent her from devouring these biscuits. So, that other biscuit is shelved for now.

Sage chive and smoked mozzarella honey cream Biscuits

"Christmas is coming"

It’s that time again; recipes to grace your holiday table will be on the blog all November. As usual I start it off with some biscuits. Every year I tweak and make variations of my favorite easy cream biscuits. Today we are using sage, chives and smoked mozzarella.

Pan roasted hen with curry shallot and sage pan sauce

Potluck

Its yummy time,  I am a huge fan of Cornish hen, game hens, quails and small birds in general. I think they are a lovely addition to the dinner rotation. I always try to cook the hens in different ways. This time is about to get curried, but curried with shallots and sage. This was a really good recipe I can’t even lie. It was the last meal I made before heading off to New York for two weeks.

Easy Shrimp & Sage Spaghetti

I love Pasta

Hello September, this month will be filled with pasta dishes. The first on the chopping block is this very easy and very delicious shrimp pasta dish. It’s made special with sage, thyme and my absolute favorite sweet moscato; bartenura. You can literally have this cooked in 35 minutes.

Pumpkin gnocchi with white wine cream cheese sauce

 "Pumpkin Everythang”

I’ve always wanted to make gnocchi. In my early days of cooking, when I was mostly a spectator (that is watching food network) I decided to try these little Italian dumplings, however I purchased the prepackaged ones in the pasta section and needless to say it was not good. It deterred me from ever trying or attempting to make gnocchi again. That was years ago, and I know better now. Its always better to make your own than to do store bought if you can. So one fateful jet blue flight from Kingston to JFK about two months ago, I was watching food network on my little mini screen. I saw a really quick video with Mario Batali and Mark Bittman making gnocchi and as usual the light bulb went off.
