Scallion Pancakes with Spicy Soy Sauce

Pancake Month!

Hello September

This greedy girl has dubbed September 2013 “Pancake Month”. This month I will be doing a number of pancakes from all around the world, Chinese, Indian, Jamaican, you name it, I’ll be making it.

According to the know-it-all Google;
pan·cake/ˈpanˌkāk/
Noun; A thin, flat cake of batter, usually fried and turned in a pan.

Ranch Fried Chicken Sliders

Cookout and BBQ Season!

Where do you get your best ideas? For some it is in the shower, for me it’s while driving to and from work every day.  It’s on one of those drives that I decided to do Greedy Girl Cooks; it’s also where I decided to make Ranch fried chicken.

I hate salmon

A few months back I went on a pescaterian venture. The only form of animal protein i consumed was seafood. As a true island girl, I love all seafood with the exception of salmon and lobster (sigh, yes I said lobster, hate it!!!). For some reason the flavor of salmon is so strong and over powering I tend to eat very small pieces of it or none at all.

Holy Chicken pot cornbread muffins

Leftovers are a gift from god. Apparently food fairies that live in our fridge sprinkle crack on our food overnight. Its no secret I often try to cook large portions on a Sunday to allow the fairies to work their magic on Monday’s lunch. So here I was one Sunday wanting to make some chicken pot pie, but as we all know there is nothing worse than reheated crust.

Grilled chicken alfredo tonight?

I am a firm believer in taking lunch to work from left overs. Sunday cooking is the best because you get at least two days of packed lunch. I'm such a left over lover, I will cook during the week after work, just so I have a packed lunch for the morning.

Cooking haul !!!

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

I interrupt your regular scheduled program, due to the fact that I am overjoyed about my recent kitchen purchases. And by recent I mean I just got these delivered to me 20 minutes ago.
I have been very interested in a cookware line Joseph Joseph, they make the most colorful modern and unique utensils.  I really had to show some restraint and only purchase items I needed, because lord knows there were a lot of things I wanted.

Spicy Pineapple Bacon Jam

Say what now?

Does bacon have any limitations? Apparently not, who knew you could make a jam with bacon? It’s a secret that I found out on a BBC food program, about 6 years ago! I always wanted to try it, but I just never got around to it.

'Crack' Mix

How rare is it to purchase a ready-made trail mix, with nothing to pick out? It’s hard I know. I love having trail mix as a snack or just something “fi ketch up mi blood suga” So instead of picking through a mix of wants and want not’s I just decided to mix a batch.

Cookie cutter eggs

Woke up one weekday morning and began to browse on Facebook (Facebook first thing in the morning? Hello my name is Tay and i'm an addict). I follow a page called interesting and creative designs. They posted some food art, where someone made ring molds from green and red bell peppers which they cooked sunny side eggs inside. GENIUS!!! Breakfast was served.

Can’t cook without

There are just some things you can’t live without, can’t do without. Likewise there are some kitchen utensils you can cook without. You don’t even realize how deep this unnatural dependency is until your rummaging through a friends kitchen drawer fighting back tears and wondering how she survives without a mallet.

Ready...Set...Cook

I’m just another greedy girl with a passion for cooking. I’ve decided to extend a helping hand to all my fellow foodies who love to cook or who need to learn to cook. Why should only my friends and family enjoy my special yummies. I need to share the wealth.

Cooking for me, is like that home town boyfriend who everyone expects you to get married to, but you feel like there is bigger and better in the world. You leave home, find a new love, get married have kids, but then comes the what-ifs, and the memories of yesteryear. I ignored my culinary instincts, moved on and married Architecture, Urban design and environmental technology :/ Somehow cooking was always in my blood, always something I did as a hobby because I truly love it...Or maybe I just love to eat...but in any case, I cook like most people read books. If I had a penny for the amount of times I’ve heard  "why didn't you go to culinary school" I would be as rich as Oprah. So I decided why not try something new and different.

So here I am world, I will post recipes I’ve created, recreated, show you my own tips and tricks, quick snack ideas, and mini vlogs of my local food finds. And to top it off  I’m kicking it chef John style and recording the recipes and posting to a youtube channel as well.  (please don’t say you don’t know who Chef John is)

Ohhh…by the way,  I'm Jamaican…..so be prepared for some island spice!!!

My motto: If you can’t cook you shouldn’t eat :p

So don't worry I'm here to help

Xoxo Greedygirl
